We think differences and diversity are a positive thing. Our commitment to equality and inclusion shows in all that we do. Of course, that includes our approach to recruitment. The way we work with government bodies, carers, children and young people reflects our open and welcoming culture. In fact, we encourage all our staff, carers, children and young people to help us keep improving our policies, practices and procedures.

How we make sure we’re inclusive

We do business fairly and openly with integrity and accountability. So, it makes sense that we expect the same from the organisations who provide services to us, or on behalf of us.

All our staff and carers know about and understand our commitment to equality, and the role they play in that. We give training and guidance to everyone who needs it, with extra support for people working in recruitment. And we make sure our team has the knowledge and skills to offer the same fantastic service to everybody. We respond quickly and sensitively to anyone who needs our services.

Supporting the culture and heritage of the children and young people we work with is highly important to us, too. Our training courses help our people do this.

Our diverse recruitment practices

Our recruitment practices reflect our diverse culture. We prepare job descriptions and person specifications for every vacancy, then advertise them across Key Assets and externally. All our applicants, whether they’re already working for us or not, are shortlisted against the job specifications.

Our recruitment, support and training practices reflect our commitment to having a diverse team of employees. It’s how we make sure we meet the needs of our children and young people, their families and carers.

We have a range of roles available at Key Assets, these can include:

Social Workers

We’re looking for qualified social workers to support and supervise our carers. You’ll need to have a bachelor’s degree in social work to make you eligible for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Ideally, you’ll also have experience in out-of-home care or child protection sectors.

Youth Work

Our youth workers help support the children and young people in our care. The majority of these roles are on a casual basis, which means the hours you work vary week to week. Sometimes, you’ll need to work evenings and weekends, so you’ll need to be flexible. Previous experience of working with children and young people is preferable, especially if you’ve worked with children older than eight.

Recruitment and Marketing staff

Our recruitment and marketing teams are responsible for recruiting and training our carers. You’ll be responsible for making initial contact with potential carers and guiding them through the assessment process. Because we go to lots of festivals and events as part of our carer recruitment plan, it’s important you’re able to work evenings and some weekends to help. Experience in marketing, sales or recruitment is highly regarded for these roles.

Independent Assessors

We offer fee-for-service contract positions for independent assessors to visit, evaluate and train potential carers. You’ll need to hold a Social Work qualification and excellent report-writing skills for this role. Some states also need you to be accredited in particular assessment tools, for example the Step by Step toolkit and the Shared Stories, Shared Lives preparation training.

Directors, Assistant Directors and Operations Managers

Each state has a management team led by a Director and assisted in most cases by an Assistant Director or Operations Manager. These roles provide support and guidance for our local teams and drive business development and growth. They ensure we lead the way in all that we do.

Business Support staff

Business Support Managers and Officers help with the administrative side of the business, including reception and finance responsibilities.

In some areas we also offer roles in Disability Support, Education and Therapy.
