Non Government Fostering Agencies in New South Wales

In New South Wales, from the 1st January 2012, all new foster carers must now be affiliated with a non-government agency for fostering support and supervision. Existing carers with Family and Community Services NSW will automatically become part of an Out of Home Care Reform programme which proposes that, over a 10 year period all foster carers will eventually be supported by a non-government agency.

Non-government fostering agencies including Key Assets, work in collaboration and partnership with Family and Community Services NSW to provide high quality foster care services. Family and Community Services NSW retains all legal responsibility for children placed in foster care, but non-government agencies like us provide the day to day foster carer support and case management of the child or young person in placement.

General and Intensive fostering agencies

Non-government fostering agencies in New South Wales either provide general or intensive fostering services. Here at Key Assets, we provide a high level of support to foster carers which meets the demands that caring for foster children brings. We tailor our support to suit every child, including those with intensive support needs.

Non-government fostering agency support

To become a foster carer with our non-government agency you should apply with us directly. We ask all our carers to complete a pre-service ‘Shared Stories/Shared Lives’ training programme.

If you are an existing foster carer wishing to transfer to a non-government agency, we’d really like to hear from you. You may find it helpful to read our information about the wealth of support and training we offer each of our foster carers. Existing authorised carers don’t need to undergo pre-service training again.

For more information about the benefits of non-government fostering agencies, to transfer, or to talk about becoming a foster carer with one of our team, please call us today on 1800 93 22 73 or enquire online.
