Key Assets Fostering provides a number of different types of foster care placement. Fostering placements can be short term or long term and last from a few days to many months.
Foster carers are matched to the most appropriate type of foster care placement in Queensland. However we encourage our carers to be flexible and willing to take more than one type of foster care placement.
Involves caring for children who need somewhere safe to stay immediately, usually for a few nights or weeks.
Involves looking after children or young people for a few months until difficulties at home are resolved or alternative plans are made for their future.
Involves caring for children until they reach adulthood (usually 18 years) and are ready to live independently.
Usually involves children living with their own family or foster carers but having short stays with another foster family to give their family/main carers a break.
Involves carers looking after a parent and her/his child/ren or a young woman who is pregnant.
Involves looking after young people who are remanded by the courts into public care. These placements are usually short term and require the carer to work closely with the Youth Justice Service.
A child seeking asylum is someone who is under 18 years of age, is separated from parents/family and is applying for asylum in his/her own right. These young people have often travelled long distances and may not speak English. They can also be frightened and confused.
There are many disabled children and young people in Queensland who would benefit hugely from the care of a fostering family. These children could include those with physical disabilities, learning/intellectual disabilities, sensory impairments or a combination of impairments.
Key Assets Fostering foster carers receive the necessary support and training to assist in taking this type of foster care placement.
Foster carers are needed in specific areas of the South East, South West and Brisbane regions of Queensland who can provide a safe, stable and supportive home environment for a range of foster care placement types.
We are pleased to welcome enquiries from a wide range of backgrounds, with a commitment to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle by recruiting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander foster carers.
