SA Staff Profiles
Sue
Hello and welcome. I’m Sue, and I began my career working with children and adults in the voluntary sector before moving into the statutory sector working in the field of Child Protection for 10 years. Throughout my career thus far I have worked in a number of different fields in the UK, including Child Protection, Adults with Learning Difficulties, Adults with Mental Health, Residential, Fostering & Adoption. In 1995 I began working for Foster Care Associates (FCA) in the UK, which is part of Core Assets (parent company to Key Assets). In November 1998 I came to Key Assets WA and worked there for three months and then was given the opportunity in September 2009 to work in SA. My role is that of General Manager so I am responsible for providing a good quality service for the children of South Australia. This means that the recruitment and retention of good quality carers is my priority.
Gayle
Hi everyone. I’m Gayle and I am the Children & Young People’s Support Manager for Key Assets SA. I’ve worked for our parent company, Core Assets in the UK, since April 1997. In November 2009 I was given the opportunity to work in Key Assets WA for three months, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Taken aback by the beauty of SA, I then made the move permanent and moved to Key Assets SA in September 2009. I’ve been involved in the formative years of the organisation, which has certainly been interesting.
As the Children & Young People’s Support Manager, my roles are to co-ordinate and manage a team of Support Workers, who help to support and maintain foster placements in many different ways. My role also involves arranging fun social activities for foster families and also setting up groups for foster children and birth children.
Lucia
I am currently employed as the Group Accountant - Australasia for Key Assets. My background is in public accounting practice; I have spent the past 4.5 years working at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in the Private Client Services subdivision of the broader Tax & Legal Group. I am a Chartered Accountant (CA) and I have completed two degrees from the University of South Australia; Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business (Commercial Law).
It makes me very proud to be working with an organisation whose vision is to make a positive and lasting difference to the lives of children. There is a fantastic team of people who work collaboratively together to make the organisation what it is!
Jennie
Prior to attending university I had 5 years’ experience in residential care with children, adults with learning disabilities and aged care. I qualified as a Social Worker in England in 2003 with the Diploma of Social Work (DipSW) and I then completed a further year at University, gaining my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work. I worked as a child protection Social Worker for three years in a Local Authority (this is similar to Families SA) and completed my PQ1 (ongoing professional development). I emigrated to Australia in August 2006 and since this time I have completed contracts for Families SA and Non-government agencies over varied areas of homelessness, domestic violence and child protection. I am a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers and ensure that I attain my continued professional development (CPE).
I started to work with Key Assets in May 2009 as an Independent Assessor and I then took on the position as a Supervising Social Worker, starting in August 2009. I’m delighted to be a part of bringing such a child and carer focused model of fostering to Australia. You may see me at information events, initial visits, Skills to Foster Training, as your assessor or your Supervising Social Worker so look forward to meeting you at some point during your journey to fostering.
