Key Assets Fostering applies the Team Parenting™ approach to foster care in South Australia. This holistic approach to the care of children or young people ensures that the foster carer is trained and supported to become the ‘agent of change’.
Team Parenting™ has been derived from empirical research, anecdotal evidence and practice wisdom. Learn more on the Team Parenting™ page.
The company name, ‘Key Assets’ reflects the agency’s belief that carers (foster carers or kinship carers) are the ‘agents of change’ for the children we foster. Furthermore, we believe that in seeking to improve developmental assets a child or young person’s strength and resilience will grow. The name of our organisation reflects these beliefs and aspirations.
We believe that all adults have a positive contribution to make in encouraging children to achieve their full potential. In doing so, we believe our foster carers can encourage a child’s or young person’s strength and resilience to grow.
Our foster carers have a unique opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of children and young people in foster care in South Australia by providing a positive fostering experience. This may be in contrast to the significant emotional disturbance, mental health issues, educational concerns or disrupted attachments which have blighted their previous years. As such, we are committed to supporting and training our carers to achieve this goal.
