Think you can’t foster if you’re gay? Think again.
At Key Assets Victoria, we know what it takes to make a great foster carer – and that’s patience, dedication and bags of energy.
Whatever your gender or sexuality, as long as you can provide a safe and loving environment for a child or young person, you have the qualities we’re looking for.
Committed to equality
We put equality and diversity at the centre of everything we do. So it’s no surprise that, as part of the Core Assets Group, we’re the only non-government fostering agency in the Stonewall Top 100 Employers list. Key Assets won the 2015 Australian Workplace Equality Index Small Employers Award. In addition, Key Assets has been ranked 22nd in a 50-strong list of the top employers in Australia for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender/Transsexual and Intersexed (LGBTI) inclusiveness, giving us Bronze status. The list was compiled using the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI), a free service provided by Australian LGBTI workplace inclusion group Pride in Diversity that evaluates and benchmarks LGBTI inclusiveness in Australian workplaces.
Speak to our LGB carers
If you’re thinking of becoming a foster carer, you’ll want to speak to someone who knows what you’re going through.
So when you begin your fostering journey with us, we’ll put you in touch with one of our registered LGB carers. They’ll give you an insight into what it’s really like to foster and help you understand what to expect from the application and approval process.
