Types of Placements in Victoria | Key Assets Australia

1800 we care

Key Assets offers high quality, family based foster placements and related support services to children and young people who are in out of home care. Services are designed to be flexible, creative and client centered. Foster placements can be tailored to meet a wide range of needs including those of children and young people with complex history who may make considerable demands upon their carers. Key Assets works in partnership the Department of Health and Human Services and other community service organisations to provide alternative out of home care placements for children and young people.

We provide different types of foster care placements individually tailored for children from 0 -18 years, across all metropolitan Melbourne, in specific areas of the South – Southern Melbourne and  Bayside Peninsula, the East – Inner Eastern and  Outer Eastern , and the West – Western Melbourne and Brimbank/Melton.

We require carers to be resilient, innovative and  committed to a child and young person centered approach and our foster carers are matched based on their skills and abilities to the most appropriate type of placement.

Tailored Placements for children with intensive support needs –  these are longer term foster placements specifically for children transitioning from residential care.

Transition Placements – These foster placements are provided in the medium term and require foster carers to work actively with the child and young person’s parents or kinship networks, supporting a return home
