1800 we care

Key Assets is a not-for-profit community services organisation registered with the Department of Health and Human Services under the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005.  Under Section 46 of the Children, Youth and Families Act, Key Assets will provide services to meet the needs of children requiring care, support, protection or accommodation and of families requiring support.  Under Section 47 of the Children, Youth and Families Act, Key Assets is registered to provide out of home care services.

Our foster care services are designed to meet a wide range of needs. These include the intensive needs of children and young people with difficult histories or behaviours who may make considerable demands on their foster carers, to more standard placement types.

We are committed to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle and will aim to work with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to be consistent with their on-going needs.

Working with you

Colleagues from the Department of Health and Human Services are able to commission our services on an individual basis or through grant funding contracts for particular groups of children and according to a range of specified components at divisional or state-wide levels.

The role of Key Assets is to complement the service offering of the Department of Health and Human Services by working in close  strategic partnership with you. By working together to develop innovative, creative placement solutions that respond effectively to identified needs at the same time improving the safety and wellbeing of children in the out of home care system.

As a registered community services organisation Key Assets will:

  • Provide services to meet the best interests of children requiring care, support, protection or accommodation and of families requiring support.
  • Ensure that the services are accessible to and know to the public, recognizing that prioritization of services provision should be based on need.
  • Participate collaboratively with local service networks to promote the best interests of children, youth and their families.
