Could you provide a safe and stable home for a child or young person in WA, even when faced with considerable challenges? Become a foster carer in Western Australia for a truly rewarding experience.

Key Assets Fostering provides foster care placements for children and young people experiencing serious problems who are likely to make considerable demands on those caring for them. With a unique combination of knowledge, experience, professional skills and the right support and training, we can make a positive and lasting difference to these children and young people's lives.

Who can become a foster carer in WA?

Throughout this section you will find a wide range of information about who can become a foster carer in WA . Becoming a foster carer with Key Assets Fostering is based upon the applicant’s ability to provide a safe, caring and supportive environment.

Ideally, due to the specialist nature of our placements, we are looking for people who have previous experience in child care, foster care, or with difficult to manage children and young people. However, this is not essential so please speak to a member of the team to discuss your specific circumstances.

We ask that you are able to commit full time to becoming a foster carer and that you have an extra bedroom in your home for young people.

Training and support for foster carers

Key Assets Fostering provides every foster carer with a comprehensive package of training and foster carer support services. If you become a foster carer, you will benefit from access to a Social Worker, Psychologist and an Education Liaison Officer.

We also offer comprehensive and ongoing foster carer training courses on topics ranging from cultural awareness to risk management.

More about the children we foster

Many of the children in placement with Key Assets Fostering will have experienced neglect or harm and their parents may be struggling with their own lives. The children we foster can express their experiences through difficult or challenging behaviours such as tantrums, withdrawal, aggression, clinginess, rejection or over-compliance.

Our foster care placements are designed to meet the needs of our children and young people. To help us meet these needs, we are looking to speak with a wide range of people who could become foster carers. All our foster carers are provided with competitive foster carer payments and benefits to reward them in their careers. Find out how to become a foster carer.
