Non-government fostering agencies

As a non-government fostering agency in Western Australia, Key Assets Fostering works closely with the Department for Child Protection (DCP) to provide fostering placements.

At Key Assets Fostering, we can approve our own foster carers; however the referrals come from the DCP who ultimately has statutory responsibility for the child. We train and support our foster carers, the fostering family, and the children and young people in placement.

All placements of children and young people with Key Assets Fostering are made and monitored in accordance with the out of home care standards and regulations of the agency and the Department for Child Protection.

Why does the DCP use non-government fostering agencies?

The demand for fostering outstrips the ability for the DCP to provide this service. Non-government fostering agencies such as Key Assets Fostering work in partnership with them to fill the gap.
