Become a Foster Carer in Western Australia | Key Assets Australia

1800 we care

Becoming a foster carer or a carer for children with disabilities is a truly rewarding experience, but there’s a lot to think about before deciding whether it’s right for you.

A good place to start is by finding out exactly what’s involved, how the process works and how fostering will affect your family.

Children in care

There are different reasons why children come into foster care. Many of them will have experienced neglect and harm, and all have faced separation from their birth family. These children may express their feelings though difficult or challenging behaviour and we offer different types of fostering placements to meet their individual needs.

We also support children with disabilities living either at home or in alternative accommodation to lead positive, fulfilling lives.

Is it for me?

Our carers come from all sorts of backgrounds and we’re looking for people who can make a commitment to fostering and are passionate about changing the lives of vulnerable children.

Although it helps if you’ve had previous experience in caring for children with complex behaviours, it’s not essential. Your personal qualities are more important.
